NEW Dove Clarify & Hydrate Shampoo + Conditioner

clarify + hydrate Hey guys! Influenster sent me a Voxbox for free in exchange for my honest review & this time it was packed with this NEW Dove hair care duo: The Dove Clarify + Hydrate Shampoo & Conditioner with Charcoal.

Now, as many of you may know, (even though I haven’t posted here in ages – which is why it took me 24+ hours to remember my login info) I am still in the process of going cruelty-free. This is something that makes me love Influenster a little less. They feature ALL products, including Unilever brands like Dove.

The packaging of these bottles says PETA certified cruelty-free but if you know anything about the politics of cruelty-free status it isn’t that simple. You can read up more on cruelty-free statuses on OPENLETR. But, for the sack of this post and the corresponding video, I tried these products and this happened…

L’Oreal Elvive Color Vibrancy Rapid Repair Reviver Deep Conditioner Review

So, I recently received another Voxbox from Influenster for free for testing purposes. How exciting? But, once I found out what it was, I have to be honest, It was a bit of a let down.
Elevive Revive Color Vibrancy Rapid Reviver Deep ConditoonerI received a NEW hair product from L’Oreal. The L’Oreal Paris Elvive Color Vibrancy Rapid Repair Reviver Deep Conditioner. It is a deep conditioner that is meant to replace your normal one. Now, first of all, I don’t use conditioner in the shower. I wash my hair and use a leave-in conditoner lightly when my hair is damp before blow drying, so already I was thinking PASS.

Next, L’Oreal, as you probably know, is not a cruelty-free brand and I have been on a cruelty-free kick lately. Even though I could not actually use the product for those reasons I did in fact do some research to let you know if it is worth the $4.99 it is sold for. Glossier Zit Stick REVIEW | BEFORE & AFTER

Glossier launched their NEW Zit Stick a couple of weeks ago. And as a #GlossierRep I was pumped to try it out. Many of you know I have suffered from acne for ages. More recently my skin has cleared up a lot. Now I only get a few breakouts here and there.Screen Shot 2018-09-21 at 2.11.47 PM

Lucky for us, I ended up getting quite the zit the day after I ordered this handy little pen. But before we get into the results let’s chat about the Zit Stick’s claims.

Glossier claims that the Zit Stick is a breakout eraser and can make your pimple smaller in 3 hours – WOW! I was intrigued. This also says that it is clear so it can be worn during the day, unlike other spot treatments (looking at you, Mario Badescu Drying Lotion, which is my all-time favorite).

If you head to the Glossier site you can see a handful of before and afters for yourself. But, just like any skincare product, it will work differently for everyone.  Continue reading “Glossier Zit Stick REVIEW | BEFORE & AFTER”

1536698758862

If you haven’t been following me for the last 9 months or so you wouldn’t know that one of my freelance writing jobs is at OPENLETR. Although I share each and every post on my social media & have talked about it in numerous YouTube videos, many of you still don’t know about it. So, what is OPENLETR, you ask?

You can find out more here:

OPENLETR is, a” platform enabling women to shape their own narrative and empower one another, where inclusivity and feminism are the core values.” Fatima Bocoum, the founder of OPENLETR, is a Chinese-born Malian citizen and is the reason I get to write what I love. She brought me on to write the beauty section of the feminist website. And that doesn’t mean I only talk about makeup and hair products, in fact, I talk about everything related to the beauty industry.

I’ve written posts about how Beauty & Feminism go hand in hand, the patriarchal rules of school dress codes, beauty brand controversies, and more. It is practically unlimited. Continue reading “Why I Write For OPENLETR…”

Boscia Luminizing Black Mask Review

bake breadWoohoo! I got another box from Influenster. And this time I received the Boscia Luminizing Black Mask. Now I have tried this product in the past and was less than impressed. But that was quite a while ago, while my skin was entirely different so I was totally open to trying it again.

First off this is a peel off mask which is not my favorite. I was worried it would be painful and I usually find other than pore strips masks like this just don’t offer too much to the skin. I researched the claims of this mask and wanted to put it to the test. So that is exactly what I did.  Continue reading “Boscia Luminizing Black Mask Review”
